Known issues using Acrobat® or Acrobat® Reader® to view PDF files on-line

You receive this error message:

Error Reading linearized hint data when displaying a .PDF file in a web browser 
Suggested Solutions: 
   
If you are using Acrobat Reader version 5 or 6:
From the Acrobat Reader menu, select Edit, Preferences, Options.
Disable the entry:  Allow fast web view
Save changes and reopen your web browser. 
Now the PDF should be displayed without any errors. 
 
If you are using Acrobat version 5 or 6:
From the Acrobat 5 menu,  select Edit, Preferences, General.
Disable the entry:  Allow fast web view
Save changes and reopen your web browser. 
Now the PDF should be displayed without any errors. 
Users of earlier Acrobat versions should upgrade to 6. 
 
Note: The Acrobat and Acrobat Reader menus are not accessible from the Web browser plug-in. You must launch the stand-alone Acrobat or Acrobat reader application to change the program prerences.
   
Our PDF files contain embedded fonts and equations which may cause the Acrobat browser plug-in to malfunction.  If this is the case, you should download those PDF files for off-line viewing.

Windows users can right-click the PDF link (to display a selection menu); then, select Save Target As..., Save Link As...,Save Link Target As... etc. to download the PDF file.
