The enzyme readily hydrolyses non-reducing terminal Gal-beta(1-6)GlcNAc and Gal-beta(1-4)GlcNAc.  Gal-beta(1-3)GlcNAc is hydrolyzed very slowly.  The relative rates of hydrolysis are: beta(1-6), 100%; beta(1-4) 75%; and beta(1-3), 1%.  Gal-beta(1-6) and Gal-beta(1-3) can also be released from other aglycons although the rates of hydrolysis are variable.
